Duets are back! On this night, Maria José Montijo (harp and vocals) and Diana Gameros (guitar and vocals) will join their voices to bring a unique musical set that will feature original compositions, and songs they love from Latin America and beyond.


Diana Gameros

Originally from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, Diana Gameros is a singer, songwriter, and music instructor. Now living In the Bay Area, Diana has played with many local favorites, including the Oakland East Bay Symphony and has opened concerts for Bebel Gilberto, Latin Grammy winners La Santa Cecilia, latin Grammy nominee Ximena Sariñana and many others. Most recently, Diana sang a song with mexican pop star and Grammy winner Natalia Lafourcade in a concert at SFJAZZ Center. In 2013 Diana released her first album entitled Eterno Retorno, a soulful retrospective of her journey as an immigrant. In October of the following year she received the Emerging Leader Award from the Chicana/Latina Foundation for her work in music and social justice activism. This year Diana's song "Ligerita" was featured on NPR's All Songs Considered. Diana is currently working on writing music for her second album. 


María José Montijo

María José Montijo’s life changed in 2009 on a beach in her native Puerto Rico, where a friend gave her a used Celtic harp. Since then she has been writing hypnotic yet catchy songs inspired by her love for traditional medicines, the Caribbean Sea, and our flawed humanity.

María José regularly performs throughout the Bay Area.  She has headlined at San Francisco’s Red Poppy Art House, and played at venues ranging from the Mission Cultural Center to Yerba Buena Center for the Arts to the Hemlock Tavern to the Art in Nature Festival in the Oakland redwoods. From March through June 2015, María José was Performing Artist-in-Residence at Oakland’s Studio Grand, a multidisciplinary non-profit arts space. She has been showcased at the Encuentro del Canto Popular (2013), Oaktown Indie Mayhem Festival (2014) and the San Francisco International Arts Festival (2015).
