A night of celebratory Roma-influenced music from opposite ends of Europe. On the heels of a high-profile spot opening for Bomba Estereo and Nortec Collective, the trio configuration of LoCura brings you a sound that foregrounds their flamenco influences and that is reminiscent of their original lineup. Kala will close out the night with a set of traditional Romani Balkan tunes.

With a cast of the Bay Area's most diverse musicians, LoCura mixes Latin styles like Rumba Flamenca and Cumbia, with Afro-Cuban rhythms and Ska together in a brand they've dubbed 'Califas Flamenkito'. Born in Oakland in 2005, LoCura has kept true to its roots with the Cajón drum as the heart of the music and Rumba as its pulse. Their love of Flamenco & AfroDiaspora Latin beats is delivered with a Punk Rock edge. Fronted by Spanish-American vocalist Kata Miletich, LoCura reflects the global mosaic of its home in Oakland through their distinctive style bringing their vision to life in their third album, Dale de Comer.

Kala is a Bay Area based Romani Balkan band featuring strings, accordions, clarinet and percussion. Led by Roma musician Dusan Ristic, and in collaboration with some of your favorite local musicians, Kala performs traditional Roma songs from the Balkan region. Ristic was raised in a Roma neighborhood in Valjevo, Serbia and comes from a family of Roma musicians. He has found a new home in the Bay Area and brings an authentic traditional flavor to the vibrant Balkan scene. Come enjoy the songs and sounds of Kala!
