CARMEN ROMAN 
 

Carmen Román is a native of Peru.  She was raised both in Lima, Peru, and in the Bay Area.  She was first introduced to Afro-Peruvian dance through De Rompe y Raja Cultural Association.  In 2010 she became the founder and artistic director of Cunamacué, an Oakland based dance troupe dedicated to the promotion and continuity of Afro-Peruvian culture.  Her interest with Afro-Peruvian dance lies in the intersection of the practice as a way to strengthen traditions and cultural identity, and using the practice as an art form and vehicle for self-expression. Carmen holds a B.A. in Dance from SFSU and an MFA in Dance from Mills College. www.cunamacue.org


ROSA LOS SANTOS
 

Los Santos is an highly regarded musician who has been playing for the last 25 years. She has appeared on Peruvian television with much success appearing alongside some of Peru’s most notable singers. Los Santos has resided in the Bay Area since 2001. She performs as a solo musician and as part of the Peruvian ensembles, De Rompe y Raja and the Afro-Peruvian ensemble Proyecto Lando.

Una cantante con una trayectoria muy importante por los ultimos 25 años, se ha presentado en la Television Peruana con marcado exito en la decada de los 90's alternando con las mas connotadas estrellas del cancionero peruano. Reside en la Bahia de San Francisco desde el año 2001 desempeñamdose como cantante solista y tambien forma parte de la Asociacion Cultural De Rompe y Raja y la banda Afro-Peruana Proyecto Lando.
 

PEDRO ROSALES
 

Rosales is a percussionist and singer who has been playing cajon for the last 25 years. He is one of the Bay Area’s premier resources on the cultural traditions of the coast of Peru. Previously, Rosales was the co-director of De Rompe y Raja for 18 years. Rosales founded the Afro-Peruvian ensemble Proyecto Lando. He also teaches Peruvian music.

Percusionista y Cantante, ex co-director de la asociacion cultural De Rompe y Raja por casi 18 años, fundador de la Banda Afro-Peruana Proyecto Lando; Pedroviene acompañando y tocando cajon desde hace 25 años y a la vez es difusor de las tradiciones de la costa del Peru.

VLADIMIR VUKANOVICH
 

Vukanovich is a master guitarist and a leader in the cultural traditions found along the coastal regions of Peru. He is the premier guitarist of the Criolla tradition and is a well-regarded popular figure in Peru. He has resided in Bay Area since 1978 and has performed alongside Peru’s greatest musicians.  

Vladimir es un guardian de la tradicion de la Costa del Peru. Es el guitarrista que mejor expresa el lenguaje criollo a la vez posee un dilatadisima trayectoria en la Television Peruana desde la decada de los 60's. Reside en la Bahia desde el año 78 acompañando a los mas importantes cantantes peruanos de tour por USA.
