Join us for an intimate evening with three of Latin musics newest songwriters - Cuevo and Gustavo Galindo
Gustavo Galindo’s music is a reflection of his life’s journey between two countries and two cultures. Born in Mexico City in the early 1980s, his childhood included several years living in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, followed by a period living with his cousins in Mexico City, and then a stint in Sacramento.
Not restricted by language or genre, Gustavo’s sound is a combination of traditional and contemporary Mexican and American styles. Gustavo writes and performs both in English and Spanish. In 2008, he released his first Spanish-language EP, La Ciudad, catching the attention of many, including Adrián Sosa, Anibal Kerpel and multi-Grammy and Oscar winning legend Gustavo Santaolalla of the Surco label. Gustavo was signed to Universal Latino/Surco in 2009, where the Santaolalla/Sosa team- the producers behind other inspirations for Gustavo, such as Café Tacuba, Julieta Venegas, Juanes and Molotov- produced his full-length debut, Entre la Ciudad y el Mar out now on Surco/Universal Latino. His first two singles, Te Perdí and Barco de Papel, are now available digitally.
Gustavo has performed on bills with acts such as Zoé, Enrique Iglesias, Ely Guerra, Gloria Trevi, Juanes, Los Amigos Invisibles, Babasónicos, Alejandra Guzmán and Ximena Sariñana, Alex Cuba, Maroon 5, Natalia Laforcade, Leonel Garcia and Alec Syntec.
Gustavo was nominated for a GRAMMY in 2012 for Best Latin Alternative, Pop or Urban Album. Gustavo didn’t win, but winning wasn’t the point- the recognition became a validation and the recognition that followed the nomination was new path that had opened up for him. Now working on making further in-roads in Mexico Gustavo is positioning himself as one of the fresh singer-songwriters in a new generation of artists and musicians. He is currently working with Cosmos Productions on his second album as well as launching new music and web content. Gustavo’s newest single “Nada Que Perder” written with Leonel Garcia has become a new fan favorite with a “Live Session” which in a months time has been viewed more than 100,000 times.
