Join us for MAGO's eponymous self-titled debut released digitally and on cassette by Other Coast Records. Recorded and co-produced by Chace Wall (skul.kid, The Vale), the album straddles the line between folky wonderment and experimental gravity, and finds MAGO on a new search for identity through solitude. We're glad to round out the night with performances by Sucker Crush, Jeremy Lyon, and Totonoko.
MAGO is the solo project of Venezuelan-born composer, guitarist, and vocalist Mateo Lugo (also of TOTONOKO). His music swells from an untangling complexity, where intricate guitar work, unexpected chord progressions, and archetypal imagery are woven into a rarified aesthetic. MAGO is music on a tightrope between body, thought, and the weathervane of emotion.
TOTONOKO is the partnership of Mateo Lugo and Nika Aila States. Drawing on international and interdisciplinary influences(Venezuelan-born Lugo is heavily involved in dance and German-raised States splits her time between music and photography), their sounds are about hope regained, underwater currents, and the search for home
Bio coming soon...
Sucker Crush is the newest iteration of music from Bay Area composer/performer Marissa Deitz, fusing experimental sensibilities with concise and confessional dream-pop songs that catalog the recent dissolution (and disillusion) of her marriage and creative partnership. Sucker Crush’s sad summer ballads and midnight breakup songs are sweetly sung and awash in reverb, evoking stylistic comparisons to Grizzly Bear, Beach House, and Angel Olsen.
