Join us for Studio Grand's Balkan Nights, an evening which features (not-so-strictly) Eastern European music. This series occurs on the third Friday of the month, so mark your calendar! The night is graciously curated by Kent Kessinger in association with Studio Grand. This month, we are thrilled to present Het Hat Club -- a genre-hopping band based in Budapest, Hungary whose members hail from four different countries. Departing temporarily from the Balkan theme, local act Laura Lackey's Rhythm Revue will play a set of jazzy American roots music.

Hét Hat Club

The Hét Hat Club is an international travelling Balkan influenced Gypsy Jazz quartet based in Budapest, Hungary. Their music combines originally arranged gypsy jazz standards and energetic Balkan folk melodies.

The band was formed one year ago by individual travelling street musicians with a deep and common appreciation for gypsy jazz from USA, France, Italy and Hungary who met in Budapest. After playing street performances, concerts, weddings, festivals, and touring through Europe, they are organizing their first USA tour.

Their current formation includes:

Balázs Fischer (HU) – Double Bass

Valentin Desmarais (FR) – Saxophone

Isaac Misri (US) – Guitar

Antonio D’Erchie (IT) – Guitar

The band will perform original arrangements of many classic gypsy jazz standards along with traditional Balkan songs from Bulgaria, Serbia, Romania, and Transylvania often combining the two styles together.
