Congratulatinos and Banda Sin Nombre join us again at Studio Grand for an amazing night of Latin beats, multicultural blends, and beautiful voices. These two local bands, from Oakland and the Mission, will have you dancing and feeling the feels!
Congratulatinos started in 2010 as a basement recording project exploring the outer limits of Latin pop music. Through the past seven years the band has explored a unique, multicultural sound. Anchored by Afro-Latin grooves that keep everyone’s hips moving, Congratulatinos's shape-shifting songwriting and harmonies are inspired by bands such as Radiohead, The Beach Boys and The Beatles.
The latest batch of songs are all love songs in one way or another, but as with love in the Bay Area of 2017, things are rarely straightforward. Solid bachata, cumbia, and salsa grooves carry raw personal stories through unexpected musical elements. Joyous key changes, mysterious tempo changes, and thunderous rhythmic breaks keep the music as dynamic as a passionate, yet turbulent, relationship. Through the use of loud/quiet dynamics and detailed arrangements, Congratulatinos seeks to get the crowd moving in spirit, body and mind.
