Come celebrate the closing of a Sones en el Olvido, wonderful series of events and classes presented by Studio Grand and Lolis García. There will be a performance starting at 6:30pm followed by a fandango so bring your jaranas and get ready to dance!
Sones en el Olvido brought a Son Jarocho master from Veracruz, Mx., to collaborate with García to provide free classes for children, youth, and adults in the music and dance tradition of Son Jarocho. Through the jarana and zapateado classes, they have shared and taught a group of “lost” sones or sones that have been less popular or forgotten over the past years.
With the support of the Akonadi Foundation's Beloved Community Fund, we were able to present events and classes free to the public! We are so pleased to have been able to bring these classes and performances to our Oakland community. Please join us for the closing fandango!
