Oakland Freedom Jazz Society Presents:
Hailing from 3 different continents, the female music trio Mooncake consists of Swedish-based saxophonist/flutist Biggi Vinkeloe, flutist/vocalist Emily Hay from Los Angeles and Japanese born pianist/sound artist Motoko Honda who now lives in Oakland. Hay and Honda have collaborated for many years together.

About Biggi Vinkeloe:
Biggi Vinkeloe is Swedish-born, and at times, has lived in Oakland, CA, touring frequently in Europe and North America. She plays alto saxophone and flute, both as main instruments. She is involved in many different projects, both as a side(wo)man and as a leader. She composes for her own groups, and occasionally for musicians from other music fields. Whenever possible, she collaborates with dancers and painters. She has recorded almost 20 albums with European and American musicians.

About Lenny Gonzalez:
Known primarily as a photographer and video maker, he has maintained a regular weekly free improv practice with Kevin Thomson (Enablers) for the better part of 3 years. At Doors That Only Open In Silence, a monthly series of improvisation research hosted held at Temescal Arts Center, he met Erik Ellestad in June of 2017.

Oakland Freedom Jazz Society takes place every Monday night at Studio Grand. Lineups feature avant-jazz, experimental and noise performances by local and touring musicians and multimedia artists.
