Alejandro y María Laura

Duo, bandleaders, life partners, co-authors and travelers. Since 2009, the Peruvian couple Alejandro y María Laura have continued to share deeply-felt songs. Their sound incorporates Latin American folklore and contemporary influences such as Bon Iver and Sufjan Stevens.

Their first two records, Paracaídas (2011) and Fiesta para los muertos (2013), were produced by Matias Cella — producer of Oscar winner Jorge Drexler among others — and showcased the eclectic range of the duo’s songwriting. In the past few years, they have visited more than twenty Latin American and U.S. cities and have shared the stage with many artists including Kevin Johansen (Argentina) and Aterciopelados (Colombia).

La casa no existe (2017), Alejandro y María Laura’s third record, was released to both critical and popular acclaim. The album features contributions from South American artists Paulinho Moska (Brasil) and Perotá Chingó (Argentina). The duo recently held a special concert in the most important theater in Lima, celebrating their still-evolving 10 year career in music.
