yOGA FOR pEOPLE OF COLOR
Every Saturday morning, 10:45-11:55 am.
Instructor: Satya de la Paz of Satya Bodyworks
Cost: gift economics (see below)
Please note: This class is for self-identified People of Color only.
We come together every Saturday as a community of people of color to practice, cultivate mindfulness and resilience, and to remember and celebrate our power and love. Build strength and flexibility in this all levels Hatha flow yoga class led by Satya de la Paz. Sessions may also include pranayama (breathing exercises), chanting, and kriyas (actions to cultivate a specific quality in mind, body, and spirit).
No registration required. Beginners and drop-ins welcome anytime. Some mats and props available for use but please bring your own mat and props if you have them. This class is offered through gift economics. There is no set fee at the door. Yogis are encouraged to give to support the space, teacher, and community according to their ability. There are opportunities to volunteer your time and/or to offer financial contributions. We believe that everyone has an inherent capacity for generosity, and that together we can co-create a thriving spiritual community based on values of abundance, trust, and connection rather than scarcity, fear, and separation. Together we create an accessible, thriving space and community by practicing generosity-based economics.
FLAVAS RHYTHM AND MOVEMENT CLASS [CURRENTLY ON HIATUS]
This class is a combination of dance and aerobics. We will mostly be moving to Soca music from the Caribbean Islands, mostly Trinidad and Tobago or St. Vincent and the Grenadines. It’s a high energy music from the Caribbean. We will mix in other music styles from the African Diaspora. The primary purpose of the class is to get people moving! It’s a great way to build endurance and it’s a good cardio workout. I also think the class is fun and a good way to release some energy at the start of a work week. It’s not a learned choreography type of class so it can accommodate any dance level.
Please wear comfortable shoes, preferably sneakers, and flexible clothing.
Taught by Nekeya Senegal
COST: $13 Pre-Sale / $15 drop-in
